help with new wheels?

I have a 1966 C30 dually that I want to put newer rims on so I can get away from the split rims. The size of tires on there now are 7.5-16LT. I have heard that the newer rims center hole is to big so that all the weight would rest on the lugs only. Has anyone made this switch? If so what year of rims did you use? Thanks for any help.
