1978 Restoration 1/2 ton Suburban

Well I found this site today during my lunch break , My Father Bought a 1978 Chevy Suburban new loaded with all the options, he is ill with cancer and not doing well and has always wanted to give me the vehicle to restore, the vehicle has value to me and the family (trips and such , memories etc) well this will be the second vehicle I have restored, he had done some minor work on it about 3 years ago, its now in need of tlc, So this spring I will be doing a complete Frame off Restoration of the vehicle, I wanted to get some feedback from the guys/gals in the group to see who they have used for there metal, the vehicle drives, and I am going to keep everything as original as possible. I need to create some top rear corner patch panels above the tailgate as I have been unable to locate them. It is going to be an honor for me to do this in memory of him and our families vacations together, Any thoughts Ideas you have for parts, etc what to look for good/bad let me know

Steve I appreciate the info, I will let the group know more details Tuesday, I am getting the title transferred and will start putting a parts list together, I am also going to contact gm for the restoration kit, I did find the original window sticker, sales sheet and build sheets, kind of nice to have...
