Hi there. I'm CeeKay, and I'm from North Dakota...

Usually, I'm an Isuzu kinda guy. I've got a 1990 Isuzu Pickup that's orange and white and slammed to the ground. I love it! About 8 months ago (August), I did an entire body and paint job to it. There are still some dents in the hood (DRASTICALLY fewer, though), and a nick in the bed rail from a cinder block, but otherwise the body is damn near perfect...

However, recently I've been bored with it... I hate the fact that it's so ridiculously low that it can barely get out the garage door without getting stuck in snow, or if I take it on a road trip my back gets sore within the first 30-35 miles...

And as fate would have it, the dad of a friend of mine has a "camper" that just so happens to be I believe a '69-'72 C10, 2wd, and if I recall correctly a 4-speed manual... The three main problems it has are:

1. Not great body. Dunno what the rust is like. No tailgate either
2. Big ol' camper on the back.
3. It's not dropped 3 inches with a supercharger and pushing 400hp... ;)

From what he tells me, it doesn't leak or burn oil and it is a standard 350 Chevy...

I might end up selling my little Isuzu for it, granted I have a place to dump the camper and the price is right...

So this is why I'm here...

End Intro.

Commence the newbie questions!

It doesn't get driven too much, as it's their camper. Right now, it's cold storage... It's not fielded, so there isn't a mouse problem, and the rust that I can remember is all surface rust and wouldn't take but a few good days of sanding to get rid of. Otherwise, it's dinged and dented, but nothing major.

What would you guys think is a good price for it? I was hoping to get it for around $500-$700 and sell the Isuzu for $3,000, and sink the rest into a drop, body job, and tune-up.

Since it's a standard Chevy 350, parts and a tune-up shouldn't be too terribly costly...

The eventual goal for the truck would be a C10 ground-pounder...

Thanks,
- CK

Hi Ck and welcome to the forum! The Chevy C10 (http://www.sporttruck.com/techarticles/1967_1972_chevy_gmc_pickup_trucks/index.html)is a great truck to work with as it has the right stuff already to make a great street truck without spending a fortune! The 350 has to be the cheapest engine on the planet to work on! If you can, get the VIN and plug it in here (http://www.americanclassic.com/paint.htm). Also, if you can, find the data plate and get the rest of the codes for trim, transmission, rear axle, etc.

The value of the truck depends on a great deal of items which are, as yet, unknown to us here in cyberland. If the truck has any special options, if it's a fleetside versus stepside or if it has extras for towing/hauling, disc brakes versus drum, etc. These things all have a bearing on final purchase price. If the camper goes with it, what shape is it in? Will you be able to unload it and make some money back? How bad is the body? How close are you to this friend and his dad? Does he feel sorry for you because you drive an Isuzu (God bless you)? Ok...just kidding!

Off the cuff I will say that the truck as described (minus the camper) ought to fetch around $750 to $1500 optioned as stated. Again, what kind of relationship do you have? Campers can bring anywhere from a couple to several hundred dollars (again, depending on condition) so you may be able to recoup a portion of that.

Either way, good luck and keep us informed!
