I was thinking about applying a wood veneer to the dash face of my ’77 F-100 (mostly the flat surfaces).

Has anyone here made that type of mod and if so what brand and type of veneer did you use? Also what type of adhesive?

I have been a woodworker for 20+ years but never applied wood veneer to a metal dash - plus I am worried about the high temps the truck’s interior can reach in the hot Texas summers.

Ivan,

My first thought would be to use a good epoxy to attach your veneer to the dash panel. After a bit of searching I found that Gorilla Glue (http://www.gorillaglue.com/home/gorilla-glue/product-detail.aspx) has a glue that will bond wood to metal.

Aside from that, I recently saw a great looking wood dash that wasn't wood. It was painted. It's kind of hard to really see the detail in the workmanship, but believe me, it was so realistic Iwas totally fooled until the owner told me it was paint!

Incredible!

I have used flexible veneers before, but never in a car.
This paint looks insane.:D
