Hi guys,
My family is building a house on there property and they are having to go into the hassle of paying a friend to haul stuff for them, I inherited a 68 f250 ford which has been sitting on the property for most likely 10+ years in california country. Im asking you if there is anything to look for with the truck? Im a chevy man, I see the ford as a step into diversity and what it has. I am bringing plenty of fuel line vaccum line and oil/tranny fluid and a carb to put on it so I start fresh. I believe its a 390 matched with a 4 speed floor shift.
Are they any specifics I should pay attention to with this truck that you recommend I take a look at that ford does different than chevy?

Add to your kit a battery, a new distributor cap, rotor, points and plugs. Ford didn't do anything seriously different from Chevy aside from distributor location and other meaningless such things.

Before you go to the trouble of adding all the new goodies, by all means (I assume this will/has already been done) look the engine over real well for any obvious signs of damage (holes in the oil pan or valvle covers). Check the oil color (a look of cream cheese is bad), check the coolant levels, etc.

Put the new battery in and see if the engine will even turn over (who knows, you might get a surprise and it'll fire up!).

Good luck and let us know how it goes and add pics! ;)
