does anybody know what the stock rear end was for this truck??? I just bought this truck, and i have never had a project car before, so i am kind of learning as I go. so any how-to's that you may know of for the truck would be helpful as well.

One of the best ways to determine what was stock on your truck is to get a manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc) that explains your data plate information. It will give you body style, engine codes, transmission, rear end, interior, etc. I looked around for an online version for the '72 F-100 but for some reason came up short.

Most of those years had a 3:0 diff. Mark your tire ....mark your drive shaft...count how many times shaft turns to the wheel...that should get you close. one turn tire....3 turns shaft = 3:1....
