1953 Chevy 3100 Pick Up

I am getting ready to install a new gas tank in my truck. The one I took out was gravity fed from the bottom of the tank and was seriously gummed up so rather then trying to clean the tank I purschased a new one. I also bought the original type sending unit that has the option of sucking the gas from the tank through the top of the sending unit onto the fuel pump.

I also have new gas lines, fuel pump, filter and rebuilt carb.

I am now ready to put this back together and my question to you all does this need to be gravity fed or can the fuel pump suck the gas through the sending unit on to the carb? The fuel pump is a normal fuel pump.
