Hi, i have the old vacuum powered wiper motor in my 1950, and i dont have it hooked up. I am confused though on how to hook up the linkage from the switch to the wiper motor itself. Where does it connect on the motor and is is like a pressure release valve?

thank you,
Andrew

the wipers vaccum hose conects to the intake manofold below the carb.ther is sort of a pressure relife valve but its all vaccumn.Best bet to put a electric wiper motor on you ride.Buck an a half

Electric for sure. I put one in my truck from LMC. It was a breeze to hook up and it worked first try.

THat metal link from teh switch to the motor, does anyone know where it goes on teh motor itsself? cant figure it out, hell if i even know if i have the right motor.

If your vacuum wipers work, stick with those. They are cool 'cause they are original. The knob is different on the electric and looks cheap. You can get a vacuum assist on your fuel pump that helps keep the wipers going then the truck stops or is going slow. Old skool stuff is fun and interesting. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to get something working that is older than I am. Ha!

I had spent monney on 2 wiper motors that both didnt work, but i got one of them to semi-work, but it only cleared about 4 inches worth on my window, and sometimes just wouldnt move, so i did end up buying the electric one for $140, havnt installed it yet though. They were kind enough to send me a replacement switch that was very much like the original look, only plastic, hah, ill use it though. Just came into $2000 i can use to finish my truck, so thats my goal. Got the bed together, cleaning it and threw some plywood down. Got some spray bedliner for the inside and paint for the outside. GOt a new speedometer for $149, replacing my one i repaired (didnt work to well) and a new heater and so much more that i cannot wait to install.

ok, now i got the new electric ones installed, work awesome! got one flaw though, and i am currently trying to see why. If i have the wipers resting down about even an inch off the bottom of my window, i sure as hell dont get enough area on my window cleared to see out resonably, they dont clean far enough to the sides of the window. If i make sit higher off the bottom in resting position, then they just get in the way when theyre off. Im thinking of changingg the resting position to the sides of the windows by siply turing the position of the wipers and switching which prong they go on on the motor, have them wipe from the side down then back to the side. Is that the way to do it? why am i only getting like a total of 1 foot travel with my motor?
