I have a 54 F100 im looking to turn into a "daily driver", i think im going to sell my 65 mustang to do this. i am considering a rolling chassis, or something like a heidts front end with air ride and a 4 link rear with air ride onto my original chassis. im trying to find out what in the end will really be the best $$ spent. any links to sites that i should look at for full chassis or front/rear ends would be much appreciated. i also need an engine, trans, and the rear end if i dont get a roller. for the engine im thinking a 302, but more likely a 351 or 347, with an auto trans, this im having more difficulties finding a crate engine online, prices are quite different, want to get the best deal i can. i think thats it for now, any tips appreciated. thanks in advance.

I am looking to do the same with my 53 f100. I have completed the tear down stage, now I am looking at either a custom IFS or a Mustang II IFS. I have read that Mustang II are not as strong, but my question is how strong does it need to be? I am planning on a 5.0 with a C6 and Ford 9" for a power train. I want air suspension in the front as I am not sure how the ride height will come out with either frontend option. As far as the rear, I am planning on a 4 bar with air as well for the same reason. I have been researching online and have looked into TCI, Heidts, FatMan, Kugel. Last night I came across CPP and they have similar frontends for a couple hundred cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. I will continue to share my research in hopes you will do the same.

I have a TCI Mustang II crossmember on my 53 F100. I am using stock M II suspension components that I rebuilt. This setup might not be the stongest available but I have driven on many rough roads and hit a lot of chuck holes without any problems. As far as the rear suspension goes I used the RB's Obsolete rear leaf spring set up. It locates the axle on top of the springs so it sits nice and low. I am not sold on the 4 link and air ride suspensions on a daily driver. But then I am old and set in my ways!
