Hello. I was doing some looking around for Frames for a 1952 Chevy pickup and I came across this site. I hope you guys can help me out.
I have a 1952 Chevy pickup which is in running order with a 350 motor in it, but the suspension is all original with leaf spings in the front and the rear. Needless to say it is a stiff ride and you can only drive for a couple of hours before you need to get out.
I would like to find info on what I should be looking for when looking for a Frame. I know that TCI, and some other places make new rolling Chassis and that might be the way I need to go. But I was wondering if any body out there knows any thing else I could look for. A friend of mine mentioned and Chevy S-10 frame could be used and clipped.
Any info would be great.
Thanks

Advanced-Design Engineering (http://www.ad-engineering.com/) makes a kit that will allow you to use an S-10 frame under your '52. It's kinda pricey, but I hear it works quite well.

No problem! I personally am leaning towards a Mustang II front end. I have been weighing the pro's and con's of an S-10 frame, a Camaro front clip, etc., but in the end, I'd wind up with a bunch of extra pieces and parts that I would still have to contend with along with the initial costs of purchasing the frame/vehicle, body mount kits, wheel spacers, etc.
In the end, it seems to me to be much cheaper and faster to just pony up the money for a new IFS and a welder. I'll wind up with all new components and a warranty that just isn't there with junk yard parts.
I've also decided that Classic Parts of America (http://www.classicparts.com/) has some of the best prices going and they will likely see the bulk of my business since I can take a short drive to them to save on shipping costs.

I am just looking at the frame and where to start. I know what ever I put under it, it will be better then the original 52 frame. Right now I can only ride in it for 2 hours before you have to get out and still know that I have 2 more hours to go.
Do you know any one that has an S1o frame right now? And if so, what do they think of it?
I am still aways away from getting something but I am just finding out as much as I can now before I buy something. I heard of guys using a Nova frames. but I am a weekender.
Thanks again for the links. So many parts.

you my try a sub frame. I used a 79 Camaro.Cost $50 at the junk yard. The price is right..Chevy parts are Cheap./If it;s a chevy Keep it a Chevy. That ford clip will cost ya around $800.[plus. they set too low too the ground.+++ with the camaro clip ,you got your engine mounts for the V-8 ,power steering, and dic breaks.A better ride safer in the long run

I'm very seriousley considering a BOLT IN IFS.

Then I plan to have it welded in at a later time. It looks pretty good for the cost.
