Help with ID?

I just picked up an old dodge truck. The owner said it was a 1947. It has a Flat head 6, step side bed with wood floor. I got the information off the door tag but don't know where to look to see what the serial number and model number relate to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help.
