truckin,

I am going to use a big block Cadillac. I posted pics in another post. S10 frame swap with 3" drop in front, and 4" drop in rear. Ford 9" rearend with 31 spline trackloc posi. I am going to try and use a trailing arm suspension like a 60's Chevy truck. That is my game plan, we will see if it works.

I got a really good deal on my 216 straight six so im gonna leave it like that untill i get sick of it or blow the engine, at which point i intent to put a small block v8. I do not want alont of horsepower right now becuase i will slam the hell out of that gas pedal :D and that will surly distort my leafs and such that i really dont plan on upgrading. I am keeping the stock front end, im not to dissatisfied with that, but i have converted the trans to a 67 saginaw 3 speed manual floorshift and a 68 camero rear end. I built my own seat mounts but im leaving the seat the same for the most part. im doing a bunch of upgraded wiring and stuff along with relocating and replacing the gastank entirely with a brandnew 69 mustang 16 gal. Im using whatever crappy rims i can find, and i have a small problem, stock front 6 lug but not 5 lug in the rear, kinda crappy with having two spares. Im keeping the original height and suspention and i've dont a little strengthening to my frame with some steel plating. Boxing the frame isn't a bad idea, i just didn't think about it. Im keeping the original steering and breaks, i dont have a problem with them, just more money im not going to spend. I might upgrade the bearings in the front to roller instead of ball. I am going to do some engine work on my 216 for now, headers, dual point distributer, dual carbs, maybe add some CATS in my exhaust, who knows. Im still working on it.

Man that was a good question, i've got a chance to relook at my plans for this thing :)

I have a 54 GMC with a 305 V8, Sagnaw 3 speed on the floor with a Hurst Shifter. The rearend is a 3.08 from an 86 Camero. I have the stock bench seat and generally original interior. I still have the original straight axel but really want to put in an IFS.
FYI to romeske1950 - You can use the front break drums from a 55-59 chevy truck to convert to 5 lug on the front of your truck. 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. I did that for about a year before I converted to front disk breaks.
They make a power steering kit for these trucks. I bought the kit but used a Manual Box form an 80 vintage Chevy Truck. It really helped on the steering. The steering box sits on the outside of the frame near the bumber bracket. IT MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN MY STEERING.
