:) Hi. I'm new to cts.com. So i would like to start bye saying hows everyone doing. now to my question. What should i do. I have a 48 chey stepside that i bought recently. It is solid and all there the truck does not run and the moter needs to be rebuilt. Should i street rod the truck or should i leave it stock. I'm not sure what to do so i'm open to suggestions. If you have any ideas or which way is better to go it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, good to hae you on this forum. About the resto, its all about what you want, how much you want to spend, and how you're gonna be using it. if you wanted it to drive daily, then i would recommend either a complete rod, or kind of a mix. If you do a mix with about half original and half new, then that would probably be the cheapest way. Instead of rebuilding the engine yourself, i would say go find a new v8 if you want to get goin fast, but if not, then rebuild it yourself and do some headwork and boring (not exactly cheap though). Its all about what you want to do. either way, it'll probably turn out well.

Andrew's right! It's all about what you want!

Now, for my personal views! :D My wife wants me to take our '52 back to it's original condition with the leaf spring front end, manual drum brakes and weak drive train. Sorry honey, we don't live on a farm! My choice is a 350 TBI with a 700 R4 and a Mustang II IFS! Now we're talkin'! I'd also like to add air, comfy seats, tilt wheel, cruise, etc.! All the nice toys of today! In short, I want to drive and enjoy my truck, not own a museum piece!

All of this is in my own (maybe not so) humble opinion!

thanks for the advice and i actually researched (as i call it) trucks and what others are doing. i found out a lot of guys use small blocks for street rods. but i was looking at trying to pick up a 1990 chevy ss with the 454 in it. then i would just be able to swap bodies hopefully (i have to take some measurements first). so thank you for the advice i still not quite sure but the bad rods i have seen seem popular to me.
