Here you can see that the heads have already been tanked, bead-blasted and resurfaced.  The exhaust guides & seats have been replaced and the all the valve seats have been ground.

The valves too, have been refaced and are ready for fitting.  Notice the quality of the work on the casting and how sanitary the work environment is.

CH04.jpg (35050 bytes)A clean environment and well organized shop is the hallmark of quality work, you should keep that in mine when shopping for machine shop.

Mike began by fitting the head with the reconditioned valves and setting the valve height.   After the seats and valve faces are ground, the valves sit deeper in the head than they it did originally on the intake side.

Even with new exhaust seats, the exhaust valve height needs to be checked and the height adjusted to meet specifications.  At this point, all the components are checked prior to being installed.
