| My Suburban is an all original running 1955 1st Series with 119,000 miles. I bought it in Wyoming but it originally was from Rapid City, South Dakota. It was for sale next to the interstate in Wheatland, WY when I first saw it. I offered the previous owner $400.00 on the spot and he told me I was crazy because he had just spent over $600.00 on the engine about a year earlier. I left him my business card and said if he changed his mind to call me. About two months later he called and said if I was still interested to come and get it. Nothing had been altered to this truck over the years, however it was loaded with accessories. Some of the options included are; 10 leaf rear springs, turn signals, clock, radio, radiator overflow condenser, oil filter, chrome front and rear bumper and grill. The only thing missing when I got it was the front bumper assembly which I picked up at a yard and put on the truck. There is no rust other than a spot where the heater valve leaked. My Suburban is now totally disassembled and the body is just about to come off to be prepped and painted. The engine was rebuilt prior to me acquiring it, but will be gone through again. I will have the Suburban finished by July 2001 so I can take it to the Vintage Chevrolet Of America Club National Meet in Springfield, IL next year. ~Bruce Johnston |
