I live in Mullan, Id. and have owned my Suburban
since 1975. At the time I was in the U.S. Navy and stationed at Great
Lakes Naval Base, Il. When I found her she was on her last leg and
ready for the scrap heap, she even caught on fire on the way home. For
the next 3 1/2 years as time and money allowed I did what work I
could hoping that I would be able to get the ol' girl
back here to Idaho. She made it and was put into storage for the
next 6 years until I retired from the service. In 1985 I finally
managed to find the time to remove her from storage and begin the process
of restoration. The old 235 engine has been removed and replaced
with a 1955-265ci V-8, old fenders have been scraped and replaced and the
rear quarter panels rebuilt. All mechanical parts have been rebuilt
or replaced and presently I am in the process of converting her to 3/4
ton. She still needs a few minor parts such as a rear bumper but
the ol' girl is a real eye catcher now and I get lots of compliments about
