Kevin Lake's '56 GMC with NAPCO 4x4

I bought this truck in 1997, and it is currently in storage.  I will be starting a restoration in the near future (after I get moved to Montana in July).  It is a deluxe cab, full chrome, AM radio, three seats, deluxe heater, 316ci V-8, 4-speed.  It needs a lot of work, but it will be a lot of fun to complete.

1956 was the first year that GMC offered "factory" 4-wheel drive even though it was virtually the
same setup that was available through NAPCO since the late 40's or early 50's.  Chevy started offering 4-wheel drive in 57, but only with the 235ci/6 and a 4-speed.  With the GMC you could have a V-8 (courtesy of Pontiac) and an automatic trans.  Most of the other running gear was still the same.
